The Cité internationale
du cinéma d'animation
is Gearing Up!
It's almost time; the Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation will open its doors in a year's time in June
2026.
Since the creation of the International Animation Film Festival in 1960, Annecy has steadily become the
world capital of animation. The Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation is the epitome of a story that
spans several decades, combining heritage and innovation in the middle of an everyday urban setting nestled
in the mountains.
At the Cité internationale
du cinéma d’animation,
CITIA will now be able to support animation in all its
forms,
ranging from the behind the scenes to the big screen.

For many years, CITIA's international events (Festival & Mifa), the related activities at Les Papeteries – Image Factory, its commitment to the cultural and creative industries, and its year-round work for the interests of the general public have all been part of CITIA's efforts to:
- train the future generations of professionals,
- support creation, in particular by coordinating the Fonds d'aide départemental (departmental support fund) and the Annecy Festival Artists Residency,
- promote and celebrate the works and their creators during the Festival,
- support the cinematographic industry,
- be dedicated to raising awareness of the beauty of the 7th art,
- conceive and offer various artistic and cultural educational initiatives.
A genuine urban oasis and part of an ambitious restoration project led by the City of Annecy and its partners (the Département de la Haute-Savoie, the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and the State), the Annecy Haras is emerging as a gastronomic, cultural and heritage site, the jewel box of the Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation.

With the Cité, CITIA will be able to share all the richness and diversity of animation with the general public throughout the year. Annecy has been welcoming and celebrating animation creators and professionals for one week a year during the Festival in June. From now on, they will be welcome all year round, to the sheer delight of visitors to the Cité!
The Cité will provide a cultural offer and a myriad of events throughout the year
The ambitions of the Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation

The Cité endowment fund
CITIA created its endowment fund to support the public-interest project and these activities:
- The conception, organisation, and running of the major Cité internationale du Cinéma d'animation's exhibitions,
- Artistic and cultural education initiatives and programmes,
- Creation, through organising artists residencies at the Cité, up to the presentation of their artistic work during the International Animation Film Festival.
